This update supports the following: System: PowerEdge 1650, 2600, 2650, 4600, 6600, 6650 Operating Systems: Novell(R) NetWare(R) 4.x, 5.x, 6.x Always see the Dell Support website at support.dell.com for the most current information. ##################################################################### DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEMS CORRECTED IN THIS UPDATE ##################################################################### This update corrects the following problems in Server Administrator with Instrumentation Service version 4.7.0. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- INCORRECT WARNING THRESHOLDS REPORTED ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Incorrect instrumentation sensor threshold values that are used when the system installs Instrumentation Service version 4.7.0. The problem causes the generation of erroneous warning events. This update corrects this problem for PowerEdge 1650, 2600, 2650, 4600, 6600, 6650. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ERRONEOUS REPORTING OF INSTRUMENTATION EVENTS DURING ERA RESETTING ---------------------------------------------------------------------- During ERA resetting, Instrumentation service reports events incorrectly. This update corrects this problem for PowerEdge 1650, 2600, 2650, 4600, 6600, 6650 with the Remote Access feature installed. ====================================================================== INSTALLATION OF THE UPDATE PACKAGE ON MANAGED SYSTEMS RUNNING NOVELL NETWARE 4.X, 5.X AND 6.X OPERATING SYSTEMS ====================================================================== ---------------------------------------- BEFORE INSTALLING THE UPDATE ---------------------------------------- 1. Install Server Agent version 4.7.0 before installing the update. 2. Extract files from the zip file, "IS470BNW.zip." 3. Copy the package into a temporary directory on the managed system. ---------------------------------------- INSTALLING THE UPDATE ---------------------------------------- 1. At the NetWare command console, run the "SYS:\SYSTEM\DELL\OMANAGE\IWS\BIN\NETWARE\OMASTOP" 2. At the NetWare command console, run the "DCSTOP.ncf" file. 3. Create a backup directory, "Updates\SAIS470B," on the server and copy all the files in the "SYS:\SYSTEM\DELL\OMANAGE\OMSA" directory to the backup directory you just created. 4. Copy all the files from the update package under the directory "SAIS470B" to the "SYS:\SYSTEM\DELL\OMANAGE\OMSA" directory on the server. 5. Shutdown and power off the server. 6. Remove all power cords to the server and wait 2 minutes. 7. Plug in all power cords and restart the server. ---------------------------------------- UNINSTALLING THE UPDATE ---------------------------------------- 1. At the NetWare command console, run the "SYS:\SYSTEM\DELL\OMANAGE\IWS\BIN\NETWARE\OMASTOP" 2. Run the "DCSTOP.ncf" file from the NetWare command console. 3. Copy all the files in the backup directory, "Updates\SAIS470B," to the "SYS:\SYSTEM\DELL\OMANAGE\OMSA" directory. 4. Run the "DCSTART.ncf" file from the NetWare command console. 5.
